Lynday Huneycutt is a local artist and teacher who began practicing Tai Chi Gung in May of 2021, as a form of rehab from a physical injury that happened to her in March of 2021. As she worked with the Tai Chi Gung System led by Master Lama Rasaji, one of the 12 Master Lamas of the Darchen Tibet Lamasery, her recovery went from plodding to super-charged. In July of 2021, Lynday’s medical team said, "We’re not sure what you are doing, but don’t stop it.” She was able to go forward and return to the activities that previously the medical practitioners had warned her may no longer be possible. Lynday feels that her journey with Tai Chi Gung and its American organization, Circle of Chi, is teaching her a science and an art that brings wellness as well as balance to not only her body, but also her mind and spirit. She also feels her life as an Educator, Artist and Spiritual Advocate has become richer and deeper through the practice of Tai Chi Gung. Lynday has been teaching Tai Chi Gung in our area both at the John C. Campbell Folk School and local venues since 2022. She enjoys sharing her journey with her students and is looking forward to an opportunity of sharing stories and time with you.

Lynday is a native North Carolina Artist and Teacher who has lived in Brasstown for the past 26 years. She originally came into this area in 1985 to be part of the John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival as a Glass Artist when she was living in Ohio. They asked her to return the following year as the first teacher sharing the magic of Glass Fusing. She went on from there to be the first teacher of Glass Bead Making for the Folk School in 1987. She stopped teaching Glass art in 2020 with the temporary closing of the Folk School for Covid.
Then in 2021, Lynday relates the following story about her experience with Tai Chi Gung:
“ When I found Master Lama Rasaji and the practice of Tai Chi Gung in May of 2021, I was searching for further rehab from a physical injury that happened in March of 2021.
As I worked with the Tai Chi Gung Exercises and followed the teachings shared with us from the Darchen Lamasery in Tibet by
Master Lama Rasaji, my recovery went from plodding to super-charged.
My medical team said to me in July of 2021, ‘We’re not sure what you are doing, but don’t stop it.’
What I have been experiencing, as my own journey with the Circle of Chi/Tai Chi Gung unfolds, is a science and an art that brings wellness as well as balance to not only my body, but also my mind and spirit.
My Life as an Educator, Artist and Spiritual Advocate has become richer and deeper.
I love sharing what is happening on my journey with my students. I look forward to opportunity of sharing with you.”
